There are three basic functions that you need to use Upingme; Posting, Tagging and Replying. You can learn the other commands at your leisure.
Posting to Upingme
To put a new message on Upingme, so that everyone everywhere can read it, send a text with the letter 'U' followed by a space and your message to:

just like this:
U I have a new and boxed Dualit toaster to sell with guarantee - an unwanted gift. I will take €23 cash. You can collect from my Rome office 9 - 5. msg me!
Posting a message to Upingme on this number is FREE (Upingme doesn't charge you for posting. Your mobile provider might). Upingme will text you confirmation, which will contain the magic number for your new message. You must then tag your message using that magic number so that people will be able to search for your message. All magic numbers are five characters in length; all examples below the use the example magic number of a568j. Your telephone number is kept secret by the system. The only thing the world can see is your message and its magic number.
When you send your first Upingme message, the system will create an account for you, and will send you your password in a text. You will then be able to log in to your account at Upingme.com with this password and your phone number to manage your messages via the web. You can tag your messages, add extra text to them and do other cool stuff.

Tagging your messages
You can control Upingme with your mobile phone, and simple text commands. The most important ones after posting are the tag and the reply command. You must tag messages because people use tags to search with; if you don't tag your messages, no one will find them! Here is how you do it:
U tag <magic_number> <tag tag tag tag tag>
Adds tags to your message. Use the magic number of your message, followed by the tags that describe your message.
Example: U tag a568j toaster Dualit sell cash Rome
Send this command to +41-79-381-6010 (FREE) and the system will tag the message a568j with the tags 'toaster Dualit sell cash Rome'.
Replying to a message
After you have found something on Upingme and you want to reply to the person who posted the message, you can send a reply to her like this:
UP<magic number>[space]<message>
Example: UPa568j I want this toaster. I can be there today at 1pm with cash phone me please!
If you are in the UK, you send this message to 80818. Your mobile will be charged £1. Anywhere else in the world, send your reply to +41-79-381-6010. Your reply will be sent to the owner of message a568a.
