Posting to Upingme
To put a new post on Upingme, so that everyone everywhere can read it, go to the homepage, and
type a post in the big box:

You will see a character counter appear. The counter will tell you when the 'text' (SMS) part of the
post is typed out and when the main part of your post begins.

The text part of your post is what we send out to people who need to read your post.

When they want to respond to you, they will see the short part (in bold brown) and the rest of your
post, the long part in black, when they visit your post's page:

Tagging your posts
Use descriptive tags to make your post easy to find. You might want to include your zipcode or
city to help us get your post to exactly the right person:

You can always change the tags on your post if you are logged in and have claimed your post.

Needz or Surpluses?
To help us further categorize your post, we ask you to mark it as a Need or a Surplus. We will
not send your post to people who want a bicycle if you want a bicycle, and we will not send
your post to people who are selling their bicycle if you are selling yours.

Claiming your post
When you put a post on Upingme, we show you a special code so that you can claim your post
and take control of it. When you claim your post, you can edit it, delete it, change the tags on it, make
replies private, receive free SMS alerts. and do other 'I'm the boss' things with it.

It costs nothing to open a Upingme account and to claim your post, and you may place an unlimited number
of posts on Upingme at no cost to you.

If you choose not to claim your post, you can remain anonymous and use the Magic Number of
your post to read the replies to it as they flood in.

What do all the colored replies mean?
Upingme replies are color coded:

Mustard colored replies mean that the reply was made by a user that wants to receive SMS messages
from other Upingme users, and that she is Grüp'd in on this post.

Green colored replies mean that the user is Grüp'd in only, and does not want to receive SMS replies
from readers of her reply.

Purple colored replies indicate that a users reply is not Grüp'd in, and she wants to receive replies
on her comment from other Upingme users.

Yellow colored replies are reples made by anonymous users.

On your user page, you can switch wether or not you receive messages on each reply you have
made, or you can delete them altogether:

On your user page, replies that are Grüp'd in and which also are set to receive SMS replies from other Upingme
users are set to purple, not mustard. Too much mustard is bad for your ulcers dontchaknow.

What does a mustard colored post mean?
On your user page when you see a mustard colored post in your list of posts, this means that someone has added
an alert to their Upingme account that matches the tags on your post.

It means that you can send them an SMS from the post control page for that post. In this example, a Upingme
user somewhere has set up an alert that uses the tags 'kettle' and 'london':

When you click on your mustard colored post, you will see that the 'Send Alert' bubble on your post's page will
have turned from red, meaning that no one has entered the exact same tags that match your post:

to green when the tags match exactly:

The green bubble shows the number of SMSs you can send to other users with alerts that match
the tags on your post. Click on the green bubble, and SMSs will be sent to everyone who has an alert that matches your tags.

Buying SMS Credits with Bitcoin
Using Bitcoin is easy, fast, secure and simple.

When you open your account, you will see your SMS and Bitcoin balance displayed:

You can make a fresh bitcoin address for yourself by pressing the 'make' button. This is the address of your Bitcoin account at Upingme, which you use to buy SMS credits.

Click on the address to copy it to the clipboard:

and use your Bitcoin client to send funds to your Upingme account.
We should receive and acknowledge your transfer almost instantly.

You will then see a dialog like this:

click the 'buy' button and your SMS credit purchase will be completed:

Clubbing repliers

On the Message Control Pages for your messages, you will see replies, each with a button to delete a reply and a button to 'club the replier':

if you see a reply that is spam, 'club' the replier. The reply will be deleted from your message and you will help keep Upingme efficient and on topic.
